Hi Everyone, Jessica has been keeping me very busy in Italy. I've been here over a week now and will go home in a couple of days. Every town seems to be at the very top of a steep hill, and you walk, walk, walk everywhere! I have seen amazing things and places this week:
Rome (2 days): The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, Vatican City, St. Peter's Basilica, Pantheon...
Siena (several days): The Duomo Cathedral, Il Campo (Siena's town square), their local farmer's market, shops. I met 20 or so of the other students one night we had an "american" potluck here at Jessica's apartment. Her roommates are all very nice girls.
Florence (1 day): Uffizi Museum where I saw Da Vinci and Michelangelo art and alot of ancient history in the structures and sculptures all around the city.
Pienza and Montepulciano: Wine tour and ride through the Tuscany countryside. This was one of my favorite days!
Cinque Terre (1 day): 5 seaside towns that were absolutely beautiful and walking trails on the steep hillsides along the Ligurian Sea (remote chunk of the Italian Riviera) that were absolutely unbelievable! I think Jessica saved the best for last. :)
This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Thank you Jessica, and Tom (wish you were here, and Tommy too). Chelsa comes the day after I leave. It is too bad we couldn't overlap our visits but the girls will have a great time and then we need to make wedding plans when Jessica gets home later this month.
Love, Lynne
